Everton are currently in eighth place in the Premier League table.
Andy Gray has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 7th December, that the only word to describe Everton’s season so far is ‘awful’.
Everton began the campaign in fine form, but they have won just once in their last 10 matches.
The Toffees are now in eighth place in the Premier League table, and their recent performances have fallen short of expectations.
Everton have looked short of ideas in many of their more recent outings, and the pressure is mounting on Ronald Koeman to turn things around.
There were hopes that Everton could compete for a European place this season, but there are now concerns around Goodison Park about which direction the side are going in.
And Gray admits that Koeman does have problems having to deal with an Everton squad which lacks quality.
“It’s been awful, there’s no other word to describe it,” Gray, who made 49 appearances for the Toffees during his playing days, said. “They were a little bit better against Manchester United, with more spirit and fight.
“If I look at the group of players he has there’s not a great deal of depth. So I think he’s got a few problems.”
Everton are next in action at the weekend, when they take on Watford at Vicarage Road.
