Andy Gray has told BeIN Sports that Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is wrong to target the Premier League and Champions League, and believes he should focus more on the domestic cups.

Spurs are fighting in four competitions this season, as they remain in the hat for the Carabao Cup – they take on north London rivals Arsenal in the quarter-finals on December 19.

A win against PSV Eindhoven sees Spurs still fighting to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League, though it is likely that they will end up in the Europa League after Christmas.

The 3-1 win over Chelsea in the Premier League sees Spurs sit in third, five points behind leaders Manchester City. Gray reckons Pochettino is wrong to prioritise the Premier League and Champions League, urging him to win a Cup.

“I said at the weekend that I think Pochettino has targeted two competitions, in the Premier League and the Champions League,” Gray said. “I think he’s paid little attention to the FA Cup and the League Cup.

“If I was Pochettino, I would try to win a Cup, I really would. It would just get the club going, get the fans going, and makes things a little bit easier. It also stops people like us talking about the fact he has not won a trophy yet.”

Spurs must beat Inter at Wembley on Wednesday night to stand any chance of qualifying for the last 16 of the Champions League, as they sit in third on four points while Inter are in second on seven points.

Since the club’s 1-0 loss to Manchester City in the Premier League, Spurs have picked up five straight wins in all competitions, beating West Ham, Wolves, PSV, Crystal Palace and Chelsea.
