David Moyes has been tipped to be in the running for the Everton manager’s job.
Andy Gray has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 25th May, that he doesn’t see any reason why David Moyes could not be successful if he was to return to Everton.
Moyes spent 10 years at Everton, before moving on to join Manchester United back in 2013.
Moyes is now set to be interviewed again by Everton, as they search for a new boss to take over from Roberto Martinez.
And Gray said: “David had a fantastic 10 years at Everton. Could he repeat that again? I don’t see why not. I know David would love to have another shot at it.
“He may be a better coach now and I wouldn’t be totally against it. He would be a very safe pair of hands.”
After taking over Moyes, Martinez made a massive initial impact at Goodison Park, but as time progressed the Merseyside club went backwards under the Spaniard’s stewardship.
If Moyes did return one of his first tasks would be to help the Toffees find their defensive resilience again, as they have leaked goals throughout this past campaign.
Moyes is not the only candidate to takeover at Everton, however, with plenty of other names linked.
Manuel Pellegrini has also been touted to be a potential replacement for Martinez, and Gray believes he would be a good fit.
“Pellegrini would fit Everton,” Gray added. “He’s open and ambitious, he scores great goals.”
Ronald Koeman and Frank De Boer are also believed to be in with a chance of landing the job at Everton.
