Can Javier Hernandez and Andy Carroll play together for West Ham United?
West Ham United have two of the best strikers in the Premier League in Javier Hernandez and Andy Carroll.
However, according to West Ham manager Slaven Bilic, the two strikers cannot play together.
As quoted by The Express earlier this month, Bilic said that playing Hernandez and Carroll up front together is “almost impossible”.
Former Everton striker Andy Gray, though, does not agree with the Hammers’ boss.
“Players can play with anybody as long as they are intelligent enough to know what they are doing,” Gray told beIn Sports (Facebook live, September 22, 2017). “I don’t understand how you can’t work Chicharito into a side that has Andy Carroll in it.”
Hernandez joined West Ham from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer transfer window for a fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £16 million.
The former Manchester United striker is expected to be the main goalscorer for the Hammers this season, but the Mexico international has not been always deployed upfront.
Often played out wide so far this season, the 29-year-old has scored three goals in six Premier League appearances for the Hammers.
Carroll is fit at the moment and has played thrice in the league so far this campaign, two of them as starts.
The Englishman moved to West Ham from Liverpool in the summer of 2013 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £15m following a loan spell from the Reds.
West Ham are third from bottom in the Premier League table at the moment with four points from six matches.
