Andy Gray critical of Everton duo Cenk Tosun and Oumar Niasse

Cenk Tosun and Oumar Niasse were in action for Everton in the Premier League on Sunday.

Andy Gray has suggested to beIN Sports that strikers Cenk Tosun and Oumar Niasse are not good enough for Everton.

The former Everton and Scotland international striker made the comments following the Toffees’ 3-1 defeat to West Ham United at Goodison Park on Sunday evening.

While 27-year-old Turkey international Tosun started the match for Everton, 28-year-old Senegal international Niasse replaced him on 69 minutes.

Gray told beIN Sports: “We saw Tosun not good enough. We saw Oumar Niasse not good enough at this level.

“When I say this level, I mean the top half of the Premier League and upwards. Those boys are not good enough.”

Tosun and Niasse are good strikers, but it is true that neither could do much against West Ham at Goodison Park.

Gray, though, is a bit harsh on Tosun, who has done well on occasions for Everton and is the club’s main striker.

The Turkey international scored five goals in 12 Premier League starts for Everton during the second half of last season – according to Whoscored – and what the 27-year-old needs is a goal to open the floodgates.

As for Nisse, while the Senegal international did score eight goals in 10 league starts for Everton last season – according to WhoScored – he is not consistent enough.
