Former Leeds United midfielder Andy Couzens wants his old side to sign Stoke City’s Peter Crouch in January.
Leeds are likely to add to their forward line when the transfer window reopens, despite the fact Chris Wood has already reached double figures for goals this season.
Besides Wood, no Whites player has scored more than three times and Couzens feels that another striker could be the final piece of Garry Monk’s puzzle, having already solved their problems in defence and midfield.
“It’s just that centre-forward situation,” Couzens told the V2 Football Podcast’s The 72 Show when discussing Leeds’ options. “We just need a little bit more strength up there with Wood, if he does get any injuries.
“I’d like to see a Peter Crouch come in at Christmas to be perfectly honest, somebody like him who’s been there, done it, and is going to score you goals without a shadow of a doubt in that league.”
Crouch has played just 110 minutes of Premier League football this season and is out of contract in June.
The soon-to-be 36-year-old is a proven top flight scorer, enjoying prolific spells at Southampton, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur among others and boasts a better-than-one-in-two ratio for England.
Pleasingly for Leeds, the towering front man has a Championship promotion on his CV with Norwich City, who welcome the Whites to Carrow Road on Saturday.
Monk’s men will move into the play-offs with a win, as long as three of the four sides directly above them drop points.
