But Leeds, who beat Albion 5-0 at Elland Road in September, fought back and a quickfire double from Pablo Hernandez and Kemar Roofe turned on the game on its head.
Consequence of the win, Thomas Christiansen’s side moved fifth in the table and now sit only five points adrift of the automatic promotion spots.
And former Leeds midfielder Couzens praised the team’s character on Tuesday.
It was United’s fourth Championship win on the bounce and Christiansen’s side are now unbeaten in six league games.
The West Yorkshire outfit, who visit Birmingham City next time out, are hitting form at the right time and the fans will hope these kind of performance persist for much of the season.
