Samuel Saiz put the visiting team in the lead in the fourth minute and added the second on 14 minutes.
Pierre-Michel Lasogga wrapped up the scoring with Leeds’s third midway through the second half.
Both City and Leeds ended the match with 10 men, with Matty Taylor sent off for the home team and Gaetano Berardi dismissed for the visitors.
Former Leeds midfielder Couzens was following the match, and the 42-year-old has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to the final result.
