Leeds United announced the Dane as their new head coach on Thursday.

Leeds United announced the appointment of head coach Thomas Christiansen yesterday.
The 44-year-old was named as Garry Monk’s successor at Elland Road following the latter’s shock resignation last month.

Leeds fans had been growing impatient following the delay in naming a replacement, but the Whites supporters will be now looking forward to a fruitful transfer window for their club.
The Dane won a top-flight title in Cyprus last season with Apoel Nicosia, having finished second two years in a row with AEK Larnaca in the same division.
It was an appointment which very few people were expecting and some underwhelmed supporters expressed disappointment on Twitter afterwards.
But plenty have also been getting behind him, and one man who seemed upbeat was former Leeds midfielder Andy Couzens.

Christiansen left the Cypriot side on May 25 – the same day as Monk quit – after failing to earn a new contract following a cup-final defeat to Apollon Limassol.
He does indeed have a decent record in Cyprus, but the Championship is on a completely different level and it remains to be seen how he will fare.
The former Barcelona academy product will be charged with the task of leading Leeds to promotion after the Yorkshire club finished seventh in the Championship last term, missing out on a playoff spot by five points following a dismal run of end-of-season form which included one win in seven matches.
