Andy Cole thinks the future doesn’t look good for Dele Alli after Jose Mourinho remained tight-lipped about his future at the club.

The former Premier League striker told TalkSport (20/09/20 at 2:40 pm) that Alli needs to ask serious questions about himself because he has ‘lost his identity’ in recent years.

After Tottenham’s win against Southampton over the weekend, Mourinho refused to rule out Alli leaving the club and stated that he’s ‘not responsible’ for how the transfer market works, as reported by The Mirror.

Alli has now missed Tottenham’s last two matchday squads, and mixed with the rumours and Mourinho’s comments, Cole thinks that Alli needs to go back to basics.

“No it doesn’t [sound good for Dele Alli],” Cole told TalkSport. “I don’t know where to start. For me, Dele’s lost his identity over the last couple of years.

“We can talk about is it down to training. Is it down to the way he lives his life? I think the only person who can answer that question is him. I always say when you wake up in the morning the first person you look at is yourself. So, he’s got to ask himself those questions.

“Where am I going? Where do I want to get to? And what’s my final destination? Once he answers those questions to himself he’ll find out where he’s going.”

Alli’s form has been going backwards for a number of years now, so it’s not just a case of things going wrong under Mourinho’s stewardship.

At the start of the year, Mourinho publicly criticised Tanguy Ndombele for his performance against Burnley, and at that time, his future at Spurs looked bleak.

But during these past few months, he has managed to turn it around and recently played a part in his side’s victories in the Premier League and in Europe.

So if Ndombele can get back on the right track, so can Alli.
