Benjamin Sesko hasn’t exactly hit the ground running at Manchester United, but Andy Cole still thinks he’s got what it takes to be a key player for the club.
During the international break, Ruben Amorim will be hoping his squad avoids any further injury setbacks.
Both Sesko and Harry Maguire picked up injuries during Manchester United’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham last weekend.
It’s unclear whether either will be fit in time for next week’s match against Everton at Old Trafford.
While Amorim has other options available up front, he may opt to stick with a front three of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Amad when United take on Everton.
If Rashford isn’t ready to return by then, Amorim could go with another front three of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Amad when they host the Toffees. The club have noted this as an opportunity to better monitor Sesko’s recovery over the international break by keeping him in Carrington.
The manager mentioned that Sesko picked up a knee injury against Spurs but didn’t give a timeline for when he might be back on the pitch.
Andy Cole shares thoughts on Benjamin Sesko’s early days at Manchester United
Sesko has played 12 matches for United so far, with two goals and an assist to his name since arriving in the summer.
Gary Neville has voiced his criticisms, but it’s important to remember that Sesko is still young and adapting to the demands of English football.

Mbeumo and Cunha, on the other hand, were already familiar with the league when they signed.
Wilcox, meanwhile, has been more supportive of Sesko. Andy Cole also thinks people should give the striker time to find his feet.
Cole told Sky Sports News: “Yeah, definitely. Coming to England anyway, you’re coming to the Premier League is totally different to any league.
“But coming to Manchester United and trying to make it Manchester United as Manchester United number nine, you know, there’s going to be massive expectations on you. It could become daunting.”
“Of course it could be,” he continued. “But you just got to go out there; you got do your own thing; keep working hard; continue do what got you move in the first place.”
Andy Cole’s record at Man Utd
He won the Premier League five times, as well as two FA Cups, the Champions League, and the Intercontinental Cup.
Cole is also a one-time European Golden Shoe winner in 1994. It’s clear that he knows exactly what it takes to succeed at United.
His best season at Old Trafford came in 1999 when he played a key role in United’s Treble-winning campaign under Sir Alex Ferguson. Cole finished his United career with 121 goals, which puts him among the club’s top 20 all-time scorers.
