Andy Cole has said on Premier League Productions that Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane knows that he has become slower.

The former Manchester United striker has said that the reason why Kane has been dropping deep this season is because of the ankle injuries that the Tottenham striker has had.

The 27-year-old England international has been affected by ankle problems in recent seasons that also saw him miss games this campaign.

Cole said on Premier League Productions: “Harry does that for a reason. When you are picking up certain injuries, you become a yard slower. You do drop that little bit deeper because you know what you used to do, I can’t actually do that anymore. He is intelligent enough to do it now.”

Harry Kane is evolving

Cole is one of the best strikers the Premier League has ever seen. The former England international banged in the goals for fun at Newcastle United and Manchester United, and he would know all about strikers.

While not many Tottenham fans will look back fondly on the time of Jose Mourinho at the club, one impact that the Portuguese made was on Kane.

Under the Portuguese, the 27-year-old evolved as a footballer and has become more than a striker now.

Kane now drops deep, creates chances for his teammates, and also helps out defensively.

That has not affected Kane’s goal-tally. In fact, the striker has actually become a key creator of chances.

Kane has scored 21 goals and provided 13 assists in 31 Premier League matches and scored three goals and gave two assists in five Europa League games this season.
