Andy Cole has had his say on social media after comparisons recently emerged that the Manchester United icon was similar to Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez.

Taking to Twitter, the Red Devils legend shot down claims that Nunez’s game was similar to Cole, with journalist DaveOCKOP being the originator of claims that there were similarities between the 187-goal Premier League striker and Nunez.

As you can expect, many supporters have jumped to Cole’s defence, with the Nottingham-born attacker regarded by many as one of the best strikers in Premier League history and an integral part of United’s treble-winning team under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Indeed, Cole even mentions himself that his accolades and his records speak for himself, whereas Nunez, who has only just joined Liverpool, is very much at the start of his top-flight career, with the Uruguay international having a mountain to climb if he is one day to be compared to the United and Premier League great.

Darwin Nunez comparisons to Andy Cole are rightly ridiculed

Football is a funny old game where an argument can rightly be made that one player is similar to another no matter the difference in the quality of achievements won, yet Cole shooting down comparisons that Nunez is similar to the United great is more than justified.

After all, every great striker misses more chances than they score, and for Nunez, the forward is simply getting to grasp with the Premier League, though comparisons to Cole, one of the finest to ever play the professional game in England, a bit ridiculous, to say the least.
