Arsenal suffered defeat to Manchester City.
Arsenal lost their second successive Premier League game on Sunday, defeated 2-1 away to Manchester City.
It was the same scoreline as their loss to Everton earlier in the week, and the results leaves them off the pace in the battle for the title.
The Gunners are fourth in the table, now nine points behind Chelsea, who have won 11 games in a row.
Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez reacts
Everton and Manchester City are tough grounds to visit, but for a title hopeful side, Arsenal would have hoped to pick up at least a draw in one of them.
Former Manchester United striker Andy Cole, also once an Arsenal trainee, commented on Twitter after the game, accusing the Gunners of lacking heart.
When a team’s will to win, and fight, is questioned, it raises real concerns about the mental strength of whether the Gunners are able to go on and win the title.
Arsenal’s Petr Cech at the end of the match
Arsenal have not won the league since 2003/04, and this side is displaying the same fragility that previous Arsenal sides have done, while Chelsea have looked like a team transformed in recent weeks, and especially upon last season.
The Gunners will get back on track, and showed heart with their fightback away at Cole’s former side Manchester United last month, but they will need to get a big away win under their belts against a top six side, to start answering their critics.
