The striker has been an unused substitute in West Ham’s last two games.
Following on from the 1-0 victory over Chelsea, West Ham secured another positive result at London Stadium last night as they held Arsenal to a goalless draw.
As was the case last weekend, Andy Carroll played no part in proceedings, with the striker remaining an unused substitute throughout against Arsenal while Michail Antonio and Marko Arnautovic impressed up front.
The rather unlikely pairing of Antonio and Arnautovic gave West Ham pace and flair up front, qualities which Carroll certainly doesn’t possess.
With Antonio and Arnautovic performing so effectively at present, Carroll will have to be patient for opportunities, especially when West Ham have other attacking options to call upon from the bench, including Javier Hernandez.
Carroll still has something to offer West Ham with his aerial prowess but under Moyes he may only be of use in certain circumstances, such as when a change in system is required in search of a late goal.
The Carabao Cup tie away to Arsenal next week, when Moyes is likely to rotate his side, could represent an opportunity for Carroll to showcase his credentials but at present it is difficult to envisage him becoming an integral part of the new regime at West Ham.
