Andy Carroll has told the Chronicle that Steve Bruce was ‘fuming’ with his Newcastle United side in the dressing room after they were beaten 5-0 by Leicester City yesterday.

Newcastle endured a humiliating day at the King Power Stadium, as they were taken apart by Leicester.

The Magpies folded after Isaac Hayden received a red card in the first-half, with their performance in the match highly concerning.

Newcastle went into the break 1-0 down, but they folded in the second half, as Leicester relentlessly picked holes in their defence.

And Carroll, who was introduced as a substitute, admits that Bruce was very angry in the dressing room afterwards.

“We gave up, completely gave up,” Carroll said.

“It was absolutely terrible and the gaffer is fuming in there. And rightly so – it was terrible.”

Bruce is now only facing more criticism at Newcastle, after what has been a horrendous start for him at St. James’ Park.

Bruce needed Newcastle to fly out of the blocks to win over his doubters, but the opposite has happened.

Despite an impressive victory over Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle currently sit in 19th place in the Premier League table, and already look bereft of ideas on the pitch.

It is not easy to see what tactical plan the Magpies are implementing, with their performances coming in for huge criticism.

Things do not get any easier for Bruce in the coming weeks either, as Newcastle’s next two matches come against Manchester United and Chelsea.
