Newcastle United striker Andy Carroll came off the bench against Newcastle United.

Newcastle United striker Andy Carroll has taken to Twitter to praise the club’s fans for the reception they gave him after his introduction against Brighton and Hove Albion.
The Magpies hosted Brighton on Saturday evening in a game billed as an early six-pointer between two sides tipped to struggle this season.
Brighton impressed in the first half but it was Newcastle who actually carved out two great chances, with Miguel Almiron and Joelinton both squandering big opportunities in the first half.
It was a more even contest after the break, but still devoid of real quality, outside of Fabian Schar’s acrobatic clearance to deny Aaron Connolly’s lob.
Newcastle even threw on summer signing Andy Carroll in an effort to change the game, but that didn’t happen as the game ended in a 0-0 draw.

Brought back to Newcastle on a free transfer last month, Carroll has been building up his fitness ahead of his second St James’ Park debut, and he received a rapturous reception when brought on to join Joelinton in attack.
After the game, Carroll took to Twitter to admit he was struggling to find words to describe the feeling of playing for Newcastle again, claiming the ovation was ‘out of this world’ whilst adding that Newcastle fans never fail to amaze him.
