Transfer Talk- Deadline Day Special: Will anyone rescue Carlos Tevez from Manchester City? Will Everton, Newcastle United, QPR or Liverpool make late moves?
See our tips below for the names to follow on what promises to be a long drawn out day of transfer gossip, rumour, and possibly even a done deal or three:
Carlos Tevez
Will anyone take poor Carlos? The wantaway star has been snubbed by AC Milan, Inter Milan and PSG.
Liverpool are interested, but after Craig Bellamy knocked City out of the Carling Cup they will not do the Anfield club any more favours. QPR are the latest club to express an interest.
We expect Tevez to end up staying, and having to apologise and patch things up with boss Roberto Mancini. We could of course be wrong…
Wilfried Zaha
The Crystal Palace youngster is wanted by Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United.
But yesterday it was Bolton Wanderers who made the first move, weighing in with a £5 million offer.
Newcastle are certainly keen to sign him, but they would need to stump up closer to £10 million and their defence may be their priority.
Kenny Dalglish’s ‘no more business’ statement yesterday was also the sign of a classic old-school bluff.
Hugo Rodallega
We reckon the Colombian hitman is close to a certainty to leave Wigan today.
His contract runs out in the summer and QPR are ready to front up a £5 million bid.
He could form a new partnership with Djibril Cisse if his move to Loftus Road goes ahead after it was agreed in principle yesterday.
Nikica Jelavic
The Croatian is desperate to leave Rangers and the SPL.
So it would see from the way his agent has been hawking him around.
West Ham, QPR, and Liverpool have all been linked and Everton were his latest suggested destination with reports a fee had been agreed.
Whether anything happens or not remains to be seen but expect his name to be bandied about today almost as much as Jim White.
Andy Carroll
No he’s not going anywhere. We’re certain that this transfer window at least Andy Carroll is going to stay at Liverpool.
But that isn’t going to stop his name from popping up every five minutes, with constant haunting references to his £35 million move from Newcastle United to Liverpool this day 12 months ago.
There will be outlandish speculation that Liverpool and City could still come to a swap deal for Tevez or even a return to Newcastle or big spending QPR.
We’re sure he’ll even be ‘spotted boarding a helicopter’ at some point.
There is very little chance any move will go through, the player should stick where he is and fight to prove his doubters wrong.
