Andros Townsend joined Crystal Palace from Newcastle United in the summer transfer window.
Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend has suggested to The Times that he could return to Newcastle United.
Townsend joined Newcastle from Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window.
According to a report in The Guardian at the time, Tottenham had to pay Palace a transfer fee of £12 million in order to secure the services of the 25-year-old winger.
The England international, though, did not stay at St. James’ Park for long. The winger left Newcastle in the summer transfer window following their relegation to the Championship at the end of the 2015-16 season.
Townsend switched to Premier League outfit Palace for a transfer fee reported by Sky Sports to be worth £13m.
The former Tottenham winger has suggested that he could return to Newcastle one day in the future.
“On the last game of the season against Spurs, the standing ovation when I got subbed off was incredible,” Townsend told The Times. “It made the hair on my arms stand up.
“The fact that we got relegated and we had players still getting that sort of reception was incredible.
“Obviously I’d have liked to have prolonged my career at Newcastle — who knows, maybe one day I could end up back there.”
Townsend scored four goals and created 26 chances in 13 Premier League appearances for Newcastle last season.
The winger has scored one goal and created nine chances in seven league matches for Palace so far this campaign.
Palace are eighth in the Premier League table at the moment, while Newcastle are currently third in the Championship.
