Andros Townsend has been speaking to talkSPORT following Lucien Favre’s dramatic U-turn, as Crystal Palace’s hunt to replace Roy Hodgson continues.

What has Townsend said?

Initially, Crystal Palace’s No.10 expressed his shock at Favre’s decision.

Townsend couldn’t get his head around how the 63-year-old underwent an interview and agreed a contract, before changing his mind.

It baffles us as well, in all honesty.

Nevertheless, talkSPORT put another candidate to Townsend after the discussion on Favre ended – Steve Cooper.

According to The Athletic, the 41-year-old is admired by some in the Crystal Palace boardroom, and is an option to replace Hodgson.

Interestingly, Townsend revealed that he’d spoken to Jordan Ayew about Cooper, as his brother – Andre Ayew – plays under him at Swansea.

The Eagles winger told talkSPORT: “We have Jordan Ayew, who’s brother plays for Swansea with Steve Cooper, he’s said nothing but good things about him.

“Good things are coming out the dressing room [about Cooper]. It’s one of those – you suss out a manager in the first two weeks.”

Now, after having a coach of Favre’s calibre dangled in front of you, a manager like Cooper will underwhelm the Crystal Palace fans.

With all due respect to Cooper, of course.

However, it is good to gain some insight from someone who has shared a dressing room with the Swansea boss.

Hopefully, whether it’s Cooper or someone else, the south Londoners can find a replacement for Hodgson quickly with pre-season approaching.
