Everton’s new signing Andros Townsend is back with Rafael Benitez – and he’s predicting big things for the Spaniard at Goodison Park.

The Toffees were rocked in June as Carlo Ancelotti left the club for a shock return to Spanish giants Real Madrid.

That left Farhad Moshiri pursuing yet another new manager, and he made possibly the most controversial appointment of all available.

Moshiri went for Rafael Benitez, ignoring his Liverpool history and previous negative comments about Everton to bring the Spaniard back to Merseyside.

Benitez has now made two signings for Everton. He’s brought in goalkeeper Asmir Begovic from Bournemouth, signing him as cover and competition for Jordan Pickford.

Benitez has also signed winger Townsend on a free transfer following his release from Crystal Palace.

Benitez didn’t forget about how good Townsend was for him, and whilst their reunion isn’t the most exciting move of all time, it does make sense.

Now, Townsend has told Everton’s official website that Benitez ‘leaves no stone unturned’ in his quest for success, and admitted that he is ‘sure’ Benitez will be very successful at Everton, predicting a great spell for him with the Toffees.

“Rafa is very experienced,” said Townsend. “He does a lot of work on the tactical side on the training pitch, he leaves no stone unturned. But more importantly, he’s a great man, a great man-manager, and he’s always talking to you. I’m sure he will be very successful here.”
