Tottenham are keen on Leicester winger – and former star could give them a boost.

Tottenham Hotspur’s hopes of signing Demarai Gray could get a boost from an unlikely source.

The Mail reported just under a month ago that Spurs are keen on the Leicester City winger, who is frustrated at not starting regularly for the Foxes.

Now their hopes could be re-ignited by their former player Andros Townsend.

The Sun report Leicester are plotting a move for the Crystal Palace ace, at a vastly inflated price of £27 million.

Leicester moving for Townsend appears a strange move when they have Gray waiting in the wings, but if they do push through a move for the winger, then it makes the England under-21 winger’s prospects more difficult.

Gray is not the only Leicester City star who Tottenham are keen on.

The Sun previously reported Spurs are interested in former player of the year Riyad Mahrez, and their move for Townsend indicates Leicester could be preparing for his departure.

Spurs have been slow in the transfer market this summer and are yet to sign an attacking player.

Either Mahrez or Gray would improve their options considerably, and Townsend moving to Leicester could open the door for a potential move for either.
