Andriy Shevchenko believes Harry Kane should stay at Spurs and try win Champions League

The Ukrainian striker believes Kane should stay at Spurs for now and ignore Real Madrid’s interest.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is certainly catching the eye on the world stage. After scoring more goals than anybody else in 2017 the England striker is following the same trajectory this season with a string of fine goal-scoring performances.

One man, who knows a thing or two about scoring goals himself, who has been very impressed is Ukraine manager Andriy Shevchenko.

The former Dynamo Kiev, AC Milan and Chelsea striker had a fine record of scoring goals in his career and Kane is on a similar trajectory.

Speaking to Laureus, as reported by Mundo Deportivo, he explained his admiration for the Tottenham striker:

“I’m a big fan of Harry Kane. He is fantastic and he exudes quality. We know each other, and he is also a great person. For me it is not a surprise that he is above Neymar, Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi in scoring terms. If he’s better than the three of them? He is young and has a lot of quality.”

Of course Kane has also gained the attention of some admiring eyes, including those of Real Madrid. But Shevchenko believes Kane should remain at Tottenham, where he thinks he could help the club win the Champions League:

“I do not know if he can transfer to Real Madrid. I would say he still has things to do at Tottenham, like trying to win the Champions League.

“I follow the Spurs a lot, they offer a dazzling and high quality football. Only the titles need to arrive. They demonstrated their offensive power against Madrid in the Champions League and also against Juventus.”

Kane has been on fire this season, scoring 39 goals in 40 games and it is no surprise that Real Madrid are looking into his potential signature.

But with Spurs in a good position in their Champions League tie with Juventus and looking like a genuine threat for the Champions League title this year, perhaps Kane can fulfil Shevchenko’s prophecy this season.
