Liverpool ended the season with a victory, beating Crystal Palace 2-0 at Anfield to secure Champions League football.

Sadio Mane struck twice to down the Eagles, giving Liverpool the three points they needed to secure a top four finish.

It looked like Liverpool would miss out, but they have rallied in the final weeks of the season to finish third in the Premier League.

This was mostly a celebratory day for Liverpool, but they also said goodbye to two important figures.

Kit man Graham Carter has left the club after more than 30 years at Anfield, and midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has played his final game for the club.

The Dutchman’s contract expires this summer, and with no new agreement on the table, he is moving on.

Wijnaldum racked up nearly 250 appearances for Liverpool, recording 22 goals and 16 goals since his 2016 move from Newcastle United.

He was a key part of Jurgen Klopp’s side and will leave a big hole in the Liverpool side, with players taking to Twitter to say their goodbyes.

Jordan Henderson admitted that Wijnaldum will be sorely missed, but wished him all the best after so many great years together in midfield.

Trent Alexander-Arnold noted that it’s been a pleasure to play with Wijnaldum, but Andrew Robertson posted arguably the most emotional message of all, stating that Wijnaldum is an unbelievable player and even better person.
