Liverpool’s Andrew Robertson pays tribute to former Scotland captain Scott Brown after the Celtic ace retired from internationals last month.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Andrew Robertson has praised Celtic midfielder Scott Brown for the leadership he displayed for Scotland down the years, but believes there are a number of candidates to replace the former captain.
The Celtic captain called time on his international career last month after previously coming out of retirement to try and help his country reach this summer’s World Cup in Russia, though Gordon Strachan’s side fell short.
Alex McLeish has since taken over from Strachan and one of the sub-plots to Scotland’s upcoming friendlies centres around who the former Rangers manager will award the armband.
Robertson and Celtic star Kieran Tierney are among the options for McLeish, but the Liverpool left-back says that the new man is spoiled for choice in spite of Brown’s departure from the international scene.
He told Sky Sports: “There’s plenty of candidates in there. I’ve been in the squad and there’s a lot of leaders in there.

“Even when Broony was here there was more than just one leader but he was a fantastic captain for a number of years and he did a terrific job.”
Before McLeish picks Brown’s successor, he has an even harder job in trying to decide whether Robertson or Tierney will be his first-choice left-back.
The Liverpool and Celtic stars have been superb for their respective clubs this season and unless McLeish can mastermind a way to have them both on the pitch then the new boss already has a huge decision to make.
The Scots kick off the international break by facing Costa Rica on Friday, before an away trip to Hungary four days later.
