Sunderland allowed Andrew Nelson to join Dundee in January.
Dundee striker Andrew Nelson has told Roker Report that he would be interested in a future return to Sunderland – despite only leaving in January.
Nelson, 21, came up through the ranks with Sunderland having been born in the North East, but was never given a first-team opportunity with the club.
The striker did though impress on loan elsewhere; four goals in 15 games for Falkirk last season was a strong return, before hitting six goals in five games for Darlington earlier this term.
In January, Jack Ross allowed Nelson to leave the club permanently in something of a surprise move, selling him to Dundee in the Scottish Premiership.
So far, Nelson has been superb for Dundee. In six games for the club, Nelson has already hit four goals, starting off in red-hot form at Dens Park.
Nelson appears to have real potential, and it would be no surprise to see him become a goalscoring sensation in Scotland based on his early form for Dundee.
Now, Nelson has admitted that he would be interested in a future return to Sunderland despite leaving just two months ago, but first wants to repay Dundee’s faith in him – and if a Sunderland comeback becomes a possibility, he would ‘of course’ be keen.
“How soon?” asked Nelson. “I have to repay Dundee for the faith they’ve shown and they’ve taken the chance on me and is paying me – I am concentrated on Dundee for the next two years, that’s all my focus is. But maybe one day if I’m lucky enough to get a chance to come back, I think of course I would,” he added.
