The Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is said to have wanted a full-time deal for Gutman at Ibrox.

Andrew Gutman is set to join Celtic despite his recent trial with Steven Gerrard’s Rangers, according to Chicago-based website, The Athletic.
Gutman recently spent a week at Rangers, alongside his fellow American full-back, Matt Polster.
And it was reported by American Soccer Now at the end of last month that both players had been offered full-time contracts at Ibrox.
But The Athletic claims Gutman is now weighing up an offer from Rangers’ city rivals, Celtic, and at this stage is likely to sign it.
The Chicago Fire academy product was named the best player in college soccer as recently as Friday evening.
Rangers and Celtic are currently level on points at the top of the Scottish Premiership standings, with the Bhoys leading the title race on goal difference despite their derby defeat last time out.
Both clubs have already been busy in the January transfer market, with Jermain Defoe and Steven Davis joining Rangers, and Oliver Burke and Timothy Weah heading to Celtic.
