Everton are reportedly set to appoint PSV’s Marcel Brands.
According to ESPN, Manchester United talent Andreas Pereira wants talks with Jose Mourinho about his Old Trafford future this summer when his Valencia loan deal ends.
Pereira, 22, has notched one goal and three assists on loan at Valencia this season, and he will return to Manchester United this summer, where he has only ever made 13 appearances.
The Brazilian will now allegedly seek talks with Mourinho about his role at United next season, with the playmaker potentially seeking a move away from Old Trafford if he doesn’t get the right assurances.
A number of clubs should be keen to land Pereira, and Everton may well be one of them if they do land PSV Eindhoven’s sporting director Marcel Brands, as has been reported by Sky Sports.
Brands saw Pereira come up through the ranks at PSV before heading to United in 2011, prompting him to tell Volkskrant in 2012 that Pereira’s exit was ‘unfortunate’ because PSV saw him as being a first-team player before he reached the age of 18.
Brands is even such a big fan of Pereira that De Telegraaf claimed in 2016 that PSV wanted to re-sign Pereira, but they lost out to Spanish side Granada in that race, and Brands’ history with the United talent may just hint that an Everton move could be perfect.
Pereira’s ability on the ball and versatility to play out wide or as a No. 10 would be appealing to Everton, and his huge potential means that Everton shouldn’t shy away from Pereira if they land Brands – despite the struggles of their most recent signing from United, Morgan Schneiderlin.
