Wolverhampton Wanderers beat Leeds United 3-0 on Wednesday night.
Leeds United lost 3-0 to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday night, and owner Andrea Radrizzani wasn’t particularly happy after the final whistle.
The Whites had lost 3-0 to Middlesbrough last time out and were looking for a response at Elland Road, but ended up losing by the same scoreline.
Romain Saiss and Willy Boly scored from first-half corners to put Wolves 2-0 up at the break, before Benik Afobe broke away to make it 3-0 after the break, lobbing goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell.
It’s now seven defeats in 12 games for Leeds, who have won just once in 2018, as new manager Paul Heckingbottom has yet to have the desired impact.
There are a number of factors to take into consideration as Leeds face another season sat in mid-table, but owner Radrizzani was far from happy with what he perceived as an unfair and unequal league.
Radrizzani took to Twitter after Wednesday’s final whistle to suggest that Wolves are handed favours from Europe’s biggest clubs – such as Atletico Madrid, Monaco and Porto – to help them sign the likes of Boly, Diogo Jota, Ruben Neves and Ivan Cavaleiro, amongst others.
Wolves fans unsurprisingly didn’t take well to Radrizzani’s comments, and the Italian has returned to Twitter this evening to post another message, suggesting that he has full respect for Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo, but he remains adamant that a debate needs to opened over the use of agencies in the league, with Jorge Mendes immensely influential at Molineux.
However, Leeds fans don’t necessarily agree with Radrizzani, and called on him to place the blame at the door of director of football Victor Orta, suggesting that Radrizzani ultimately needs to back manager Heckingbottom with what he needs this summer rather than spend too much time focusing on Premier League-bound Wolves.
