Kenny Dalglish seems to have played a role in Andrea Radrizzani taking over Leeds United.
Radrizzani is now the owner and chairman of Leeds, who are one of the biggest clubs in England and have a strong following.
The Whites have not featured in the Premier League since 2004, but they came close to finishing in the top six of the Championship last season.
Italian businessman Radrizzani has revealed how a conversation with former Liverpool and Celtic forward Dalglish led him to buy Leeds.
“Initially when I was looking to enter football I was looking at clubs in Italy or France or Spain, a mid-table club where I could develop players and eventually sell them,” Radrizzani told The Guardian. “I had opportunities in other countries – I never thought about England and Leeds United.
“But then I was at a lunch with friends from London and also Kenny Dalglish, before Manchester City were playing Paris Saint-Germain in Manchester.
“We were casually speaking about the legacy of Leeds United and how good it would be to bring back Leeds to the glory.
“It was the first time I was hearing about the history of Leeds and the potential. I love challenges in my life and I love to turn around organisations.”
Leeds have huge potential, and given the fact that they get over 30,000 fans for matches at Elland Road on occasions, the base is there for success to be built on.
What the Whites need is all the players to give their best on the pitch and push on until the final game of the season.
The West Yorkshire outfit will kick off their 2017-18 Championship campaign with an away game against Bolton Wanderers on Sunday.
