Leeds United reportedly could not get a deal across the line for Swansea City winger Dan James.
Andrea Radrizzani has taken to Twitter to shed light on the news that Dan James’ deadline day move to Leeds United is off, and the Whites chairman has insisted that they did everything they could to get a deal across the line.
For much of the final day of the January transfer window, it appeared that James was destined to end the month as a Leeds player. The Yorkshire Evening Post reports that the 21-year-old arrived at Elland Road for a medical ahead of an initial loan move that would potentially become permanent in the summer.
However, the The Yorkshire Evening Post reports that the move broke down as Swansea refused to respond to contact from Leeds, and the deadline passed without James getting the switch across the line.
There is a lot of confusion, frustration and anger amongst the Leeds fans on social media as it seemed a formality at one stage that James would become Marcelo Bielsa’s second first-team signing of the window.
But Radrizzani has quickly taken to social media following the collapse in talks and provided some insight into what happened that led to the move not taking place.
And it is clear from Radrizzani’s message that he has no doubt that Leeds did everything they needed to do to get a move completed, but insisted that the club now need to focus on capitalising on their current position in the table.
