Andrea Radrizzani seemingly already has his Leeds United exit strategy mapped out.
The Whites’ owner looks set to sell the club to 49ers Enterprises at some point within the next year, and he’s hoping to bow out with a positive legacy at Elland Road.
However, while Radrizzani has a departure from Leeds in mind, a departure from football seemingly isn’t on the cards for the Italian.
Indeed, according to The Athletic, Radrizzani has been sounding out the possibility of buying an Italian club after leaving Leeds United.
Interestingly, a purchase of an Italian club at some point would make Radrizzani the second former Leeds owner to have a stake in that footballing structure.
Massimo Cellino also followed the exact same path as Radrizzani, selling the remainder of his stake in Leeds in 2017 before going on to buy Brescia just weeks later.
Radrizzani and Cellino were once partners at Leeds, but now they may become rivals in Italian football.
It remains to be seen which club Radrizzani will look towards purchasing, but given that his net worth is currently reported to be around £450m, it’s hard to imagine that he’ll get his hands on one of the biggest clubs in Serie A such as Juventus, Inter or AC Milan.
However, the purchase of a mid-table Serie A side would be very possible, or perhaps he’ll look to the second-tier just as he did with Leeds and look to return one of Italy’s fallen giants back to past glory.
Having done a very good job as the owner of Leeds United, it will be interesting to see what Radrizzani does next, and it will certainly be worth keeping an eye on any clashes between the next team he purchases and Brescia as Radrizzani potentially collides with Cellino and a battle between two former Leeds owners.
