Leeds United have appointed Victor Orta as their new Director of Football.

Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani has told the club’s official website that he is delighted to welcome Spaniard Victor Orta to Elland Road.
The Whites are facing a summer of change after finishing seventh in the Championship, as Radrizzani has bought the club outright from Massimo Cellino, before manager Garry Monk left the club last week.

Monk, 38, stunned many by handing in his resignation last week, and Leeds have today made an appointment – but it isn’t a manager heading to West Yorkshire.
Leeds today announced that Spaniard Victor Orta has joined the club as their new Director of Football, which should give the club a boost ahead of the summer transfer window.

Orta, formerly of Sevilla, became Middlesbrough’s Director of Football in December 2015, and helped bring the likes of Gaston Ramirez, Victor Valdes, Marten de Roon and Alvaro Negredo to the Riverside Stadium.
Having worked closely with manager Aitor Karanka – who left the club in March – Orta’s departure from Boro was confirmed last week, with a Leeds now confirmed.
Orta’s arrival will spark rumours that Karanka, who is currently the favourite with bookmakers for the Leeds job, will end up replacing Monk, but for now, owner Andrea Radrizzani has been offering his reaction to the move.

Radrizzani has told the club’s official website that he is delighted to have brought Orta to Elland Road, citing three reasons why he has impressed; his knowledge of the game, his scouting connections and his desire to take the club back to the top flight.
“I am delighted to welcome Victor to Elland Road, I have been impressed by his knowledge of the game, his extensive scouting network and his desire to help us achieve our objective of getting Leeds United back to the Premier League,” said Radrizzani.
