Leeds United chairman Andrea Radrizzani has responded to the club’s post on Twitter about winning promotion to the Premier League on this day last year.

Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds won promotion from the Championship to the Premier League at the end of the 2019-20 season.

In fact, it was on July 17, 2020 that Leeds were confirmed of promotion back to the top flight of English football.

The Whites had last played in the Premier League in 2004.

As reported by BBC Sport, West Bromwich Albion’s 2-1 defeat to Huddersfield Town away from home in the Championship on this day last year saw Leeds win promotion to the Premier League.

Leeds have posted on Twitter a 40-second clip of the moment when promotion was confirmed, and club chairman Radrizzani has responded to it, as you can see below.

Going strong

Many would have expected Leeds to struggle in the Premier League last season, but the Whites did extremely well.

Bielsa’s side ended up as high as ninth in the league table with 59 points from 38 games.

Leeds will be looking to do better next season and perhaps challenge for the Europa League places.
