Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani has been quoted by Football Italia as saying that the club have thought about a deal for Edinson Cavani.
Leeds enjoyed quite the weekend; on Friday, West Bromwich Albion’s defeat at Huddersfield Town sent the Whites up, and they were crowned champions less than 24 hours later when Brentford lost at Stoke City.
Leeds added the gloss themselves by beating Derby County 3-1, with the celebrations in full flow for days now as Leeds finally return to the Premier League following a 16-year exile.
With Marcelo Bielsa’s side now back in the top flight, transfer rumours are already surrounding the club – and they could attract some big names.
Fans maybe weren’t expecting Cavani to be one of those names, but owner Radrizzani has refused to play down the prospect of a deal.
The Italian noted that Cavani has the quality and the physicality to be a success in the Premier League, and whilst a deal hasn’t been proposed to Bielsa, Leeds have ‘thought about’ a deal and still have hope because he’s a free agent.
“In addition to his quality, Cavani could contribute with his physicality and adapt here, but I’ve never talked about him with the coach,” said Radrizzani.

“Having said that, we’ve certainly thought about him and we’ll see, given he’s still available on a free transfer,” he added.
Cavani’s Paris Saint-Germain contract is over, with the 33-year-old departing the Parc des Princes after 200 goals in 301 games.
The Uruguayan would be a glittering addition to the Leeds attack, giving Bielsa a proven, top-quality goalscorer for the Premier League – but they will no doubt face a huge battle for him given his reputation and free agent status.
