Andrea Radrizzani compares Leeds United and Liverpool TV money

Leeds United are in the Championship, while Liverpool are in the Premier League.

Leeds United chairman Andrea Radrizzani has suggested to The Times that his club should get more money from TV viewings and has compared that to what Liverpool receive .

Radrizzani has stated that Championship side Leeds have been shown as many times on live TV as Premier League club Liverpool have this campaign.

Radrizzani told The Times: “The way English football is run is not sustainable. Too many clubs struggle and fail every year. There is no respect for the fans and local communities if there is a change of ownership every year.

“And the allocation of resources is ridiculous. We’ve been on television 22 times this season with an audience of around 600,000 on Sky.

“We’re the most-shown club in the country along with Liverpool and get £2.5 million in TV money, which is ridiculous. I cannot pay even two salaries with that.”

Successful seasons

Both Leeds and Liverpool are enjoying successful and productive seasons, in their own way.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side have finished in the top six of the Championship and are aiming to clinch promotion to the Premier League via the playoffs.

As for Liverpool, the Reds can still win the Premier League title this season with just one more round of matches left.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have also reached the final of the Champions League, where they will take on Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Leeds will take on Derby County away from home at the Pride Park Stadium in the first leg of their Championship playoff semi-final tie on Saturday evening.

Meanwhile, Liverpool will face Wolverhampton Wanderers at Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
