Leeds United’s under-23 side have clinched the Professional Development League North title with a 2-0 win on Monday night.

Andrea Radrizzani and Liam Cooper have taken to Twitter to laud Leeds United’s under-23 side after their 2-0 win against Colchester on Monday ensured that they have clinched the Professional Development League North title.
With Burnley losing earlier in the day, Carlos Corberan’s men knew that a victory in the evening would be enough to wrap up the title with a couple of games remaining.
And they got the win that they were looking for. Ryan Edmondson staked a further claim for another chance in Marcelo Bielsa’s first-team as he scored either side of the break to see the Whites secure a 2-0 scoreline.
It is a fantastic achievement for Corberan’s side. But given that so many of his squad have stepped up to the senior side and adapted immediately, it has probably come as no surprise that they have won the league by some distance.

Leeds have paid a lot of attention to strengthening their academy ranks in the past couple of years, and the strategy is clearly paying off with a number of signings from the past couple of years proving to be key men throughout the season.
And following the win, both owner Radrizzani and first-team captain Cooper took to social media to laud the team, with the former pointing out what a positive sign it is for the future that this crop of players are doing so well – especially as the path to the first-team is very much open.

Here is how Radrizzani and Cooper reacted to the title win…
