Budding coach Andrea Pisanu looks set to study Leeds United and Marcelo Bielsa.
Former forward Andrea Pisanu has told Tuttomercatoweb that he is set to travel to Leeds United in order to study Marcelo Bielsa’s training sessions.
The Whites may have suffered their first league defeat of the season with a 2-1 home loss to Birmingham City on Saturday, but they have been one of the success stories of the season to date.
Having brought in ‘El Loco’ Marcelo Bielsa as their new manager in a stunning move this summer, Leeds were banking on the Argentinian taking them back to the Premier League – and the signs are good so far.
With five wins and three draws in their first eight games, Leeds have been making headlines for their superb displays under Bielsa, and he has inspired a host of managers over the years.
Pep Guardiola, Mauricio Pochettino, Jorge Sampaoli, Diego Simeone, Eduardo Berizzo and Gerardo Martino are just some of the managers to claim over the years that they have been inspired by Bielsa’s work – and another budding manager wants to learn from the veteran coach.
Andrea Pisanu – a former Italian forward of Bologna, Parma and Verona – is looking to kickstart his coaching career, and has told Tuttomercatoweb that he is set to visit Leeds in order to study Bielsa’s sessions.
“I recently turned down offers in Malta because I was waiting for a call from Italy, maybe in Serie C, someone looking for a profile like mine,” said Pisanu. “In October I will be in Leeds for a week to study Bielsa closely,” he added.
It’s particularly interesting that Pisanu is heading to Leeds given that he once worked under Massimo Cellino – the former Leeds owner – at Cagliari, and will hope to have a more valuable time in West Yorkshire than his fellow Italian did.
