Legendary midfielder Andrea Pirlo has backed reported Stoke City target Jack Harrison to make a successful transition from the MLS to the Premier League.

Stoke-born winger Harrison has been tipped for a return to the Potteries this month, with The Sentinel reporting that a second offer has been lodged with New York City FC.

Pirlo, widely regarded as one of the greatest midfielders of his generation, played alongside Harrison in the MLS before calling an end to his stellar career in 2017.

The former AC Milan and Juventus pass master told talkSPORT that Harrison is a “good player” who has the tools to make it in European football if Stoke do come calling.

The Italian is quoted by talkSPORT as saying: “Maybe he has a possibility to come back.

“He is very young, he’s fast and he is capable of playing in Europe. He’s a good player.”

Harrison has scored 14 goals and supplied 10 assists in 55 MLS matches for New York City, and made his England Under-21 debut against Andorra in October of last year.

The Sentinel understands that West Ham United and Leicester City are also monitoring the 21-year-old, but his ties to Staffordshire put the Potters in a strong position to sign him.
