Acosta still without a win: Dovizioso blames KTM for lack of support

Pedro Acosta’s winless season comes down to KTM not giving him the tools he needs, according to Andrea Dovizioso.

The Spanish rider is the only one in the top five without a victory this year, though he has made it to the podium five times. Last season, Acosta finished third overall with three wins and nine podiums, including two Sprints.

This season, Acosta has shown growth as a rider but still hasn’t managed to take the chequered flag first. There seems to be something holding him back from making that final step.

Dovizioso believes the issue isn’t with Acosta himself but with KTM’s lack of support. Speaking at Mugello ahead of round seven of the championship, Dovizioso told Canal De Noticias VR46.

Andrea Dovizioso says KTM needs to do more if Pedro Acosta is going to take the next step

Speaking to Moto.it, Andrea Dovizioso said Pedro Acosta has the potential to earn multiple podiums, but needs more if he’s going to challenge for titles. That’s something KTM can fix by giving him a better bike.

Dovizioso explained that Acosta will always be competitive, but can’t win championships until KTM take action.

“Acosta will be up front many times, but to fight for the championship, KTM needs to take another step forward. Until we see Pedro on a different bike, we won’t know exactly what he’s capable of.”

KTM have fallen short of giving both Acosta and Brad Binder the best possible bike this year. Even so, Acosta pushed them publicly last month to make improvements so both riders could finish the season stronger.

Pedro Acosta is looking for his first Grand Prix win before the expected Ducati switch

Pedro Acosta is still waiting on his first Grand Prix win, and you can bet the wait is starting to get to him. Despite all the talk about his talent, he hasn’t managed to cross the line first in a full-length race yet.

Acosta’s move to Ducati looks set for 2027, and he’ll want to show his new team that he’s ready. Getting that first win under his belt would go a long way in building confidence before the switch.

A debut victory this season would be a massive boost before heading over to Ducati, but it’s not going to come easily.

This season has shown he can compete with Ducati riders already, which won’t go unnoticed by his future team. Still, nothing quiets doubters like finally getting that win.
