Andre Villas-Boas was contacted by Everton, but he had no interest

Everton were keen to see if Andre Villas-Boas would have wanted to move to Goodison Park.

According to the Telegraph, Andre Villas-Boas did speak to Everton, but he turned the job down.

Villas-Boas was in charge at Shanghai SIPG, and Everton made an approach to see if the Portuguese boss would be interested in the vacancy at Goodison Park.

However, the former Tottenham and Chelsea manager has decided that he wants to leave his current job in China and take a break from football.

Everton contacted Villas-Boas after they found out it was impossible to bring in Marco Silva from Watford, but they were left frustrated.

As a result, Everton have turned to Sam Allardyce, who is expected to take over at Goodison Park in the near future.

Allardyce was linked with the Everton job weeks ago, but they were unable to agree a deal for the experienced boss at that time.
