Tottenham Hotspur caused a stir by splashing out on Moussa Sissoko on transfer deadline day, spending big to secure the Frenchman’s signature.
Sissoko had been facing the prospect of playing Championship football, and can now look forward to Champions League football with Spurs instead.
The midfielder is highly rated and is a player who caught the eye of former Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas.

The Independent quoted Villas-Boas commenting on Newcastle United signing Sissoko back in 2013, and he thought highly of their coup.
He said: “Most of their signings have gone straight in and have had the right impact.
“Sissoko was a great grab. A couple of years ago he was being linked with the top clubs in the world and to get him at such a low price was a massive coup for them.”
Spurs were linked with signing Sissoko under Villas-Boas’ management, with The Star linking them in 2012 to the midfielder, then at Toulouse, for £9 million.
The transfer window in which Sissoko moved to Newcastle, Tottenham made a cheaper move, signing Lewis Holtby from Schalke for £1.5 million.
Villas-Boas was sacked in December 2013, just months after leading Spurs to their highest ever Premier League points total.
