Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino was unable to make one signing this summer.

Andre Villas-Boas’ criticism of Tottenham Hotspur may ring truer than ever before, after their failure to make one signing this summer.
Spurs are the first Premier League team since 2003 that has gone the whole summer without making a new addition, with their ambition coming under question from supporters.
Tottenham have put together one of the Premier League’s outstanding squads, but rather than really pushing on this summer, they have stood still.
And Villas-Boas may have warned Spurs fans about this summer, ahead of time.
He said to the London Evening Standard earlier this year: “The size of the club, fan base and its infrastructure make you dream you can go higher but the philosophy at the top prevents you.”

Villas-Boas actually was given money to spend at Spurs, although that was after Gareth Bale was sold.
Pochettino, though, just couldn’t get a transfer for any player that he wanted over the line.
Spurs are now under pressure to respond to their critics, by proving that stability can be a positive rather than a negative.
Most of their top four rivals have strengthened heavily this summer, but Spurs will be hoping that the continuity in their squad aids them.
