Former Tottenham Hotspur boss Andre Villas-Boas has offered a stinging rebuke of Spurs chairman Daniel Levy today – calling him an ‘expert’ when it comes to the sacking of managers.

The Portuguese manager took over at Tottenham in 2012, replacing Harry Redknapp at White Hart Lane.

He had an excellent first season in charge at the club, only narrowly missing out on the top four to local rivals Arsenal. But results and his relationship with the Spurs fans began to dip and sour. After a 5-0 thrashing against Liverpool he left the club in December 2013.

Speaking to the ASPIRE4SPORT summit in Amsterdam this week, as reported by fcbusiness, AVB had this to say about the Spurs chairman:

“Daniel Levy is an expert in sacking managers.

“There’s no time for long term projects in the Premier League.”

Levy has been chairman to the likes of Martin Jol, Juande Ramos and Harry Redknapp. He has a reputation for many things, especially being a tough negotiator, but sacking managers is not something he takes lightly.

In the current climate at Spurs the idea of sacking the manager is certainly not on the agenda. Mauricio Pochettino is working wonders for the club at present and is being backed for long-term success at White Hart Lane.

Perhaps there was a hint of bitterness in AVB’s comments.
