Sheffield Wednesday are said to want talks with the 40-year-old boss.

Andre Villas-Boas is unlikely to become Sheffield Wednesday’s manager this month, according to an interview with the Portuguese in the Times newspaper.
The Sun reported last week that Wednesday chiefs want to hold talks with Villas-Boas about succeeding compatriot Carlos Carvalhal at Hillsborough.
The 40-year-old left Chinese Super League side Shanghai SIPG at the end of November and is currently preparing to compete in this month’s Dakar Rally in South America.

The endurance race ends on 20th January, but any Wednesday move for Villas-Boas may have to wait until the summer.
“My idea is to rest until June and see what the market throws at me,” said the former Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur manager.
“I still want to do a few years in Europe in one of the big leagues so I will wait patiently for the right opportunity. Coming back to the Premier League is not one of my objectives – but you never know.”

Villas-Boas – who won league titles with FC Porto and Zenit St Petersburg – would be a somewhat ambitious target for Sheffield Wednesday, who are currently 16th in the Championship having narrowly missed out on promotion two seasons running under Carvalhal.
Former Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Paul Lambert is the current bookies favourite to take the Owls reins, ahead of another ex-CSL boss Gus Poyet (Sky Bet).
