Andre Moreira has hardly featured for Aston Villa this season ahead of a rumoured move for Lovre Kalinic.

If it wasn’t obvious already, Aston Villa are on the hunt for a new goalkeeper following the error-prone performances from Orjan Nyland this season.

Sky Sports are reporting that the Midlands giants are hoping to agree on a £7million deal for Gent keeper Lovre Kalinic ahead of a proposed January transfer.

If Kalinic does put pen-to-paper with Villa then he will be the club’s third goalkeeper signing following the additions of Nyland and the hardly-ever-seen Andre Moreira from the summer.

Spaniard Moreira is on loan at Villa from La Liga giants Atletico Madrid, but it is fair to say that his career with the English side has already ended before it even started.

Moreira has represented Villa on only two occasions this season, both in the EFL Cup, at first against League Two side Yeovil Town before being knocked out by Nigel Clough’s Burton Albion in August.

Added with that, the 23-year-old has hardly made the club’s matchday squad, last featuring at the end of September with backup Mark Bunn selected instead.

It is obvious that Moreira is already the third choice at Villa and he will fall further down the pecking order if Villa’s reported target signs on the dotted line.

Considering the Atletico Madrid loanee will head back to Spain in the summer, Villa are probably better off terminating his loan early because he cannot be seen as a future permanent signing.
