Yannick Bolasie’s Aston Villa departure could open the door for Andre Green.
Aston Villa terminated Yannick Bolasie’s loan on Monday and sent him back to Everton.
The 29-year-old only managed two goals and four assists from 21 Championship appearances for the Villans.
The cancellation of the agreement comes on the back of a poor showing in the 2-2 draw with Hull City last Saturday.
Not many Aston Villa fans are going to miss him. In fact, some might be happy to see the back of the inconsistent winger who earned £70,000 per week [Birmingham Mail].
And the same might apply to one player: Andre Green.
This time last week, Green was on loan at Portsmouth and a million miles from being a regular for his parent club.
Fast forward five days and the 20-year-old, who made an impressive cameo against Hull after being recalled, could now fancy his chances of playing regularly from now until May.
Green, a left winger, was always going to play second fiddle to Bolasie, hence why Steve Bruce loaned him out, but since the Everton man is gone it could and probably will open the door for the youngster to play a role this season.
How big of a role depends on him, but he certainly has the talent and more than likely the hunger to stake a serious claim.
This is a chance that Green couldn’t have imagined getting only last week, and now he must grasp it with both hands.
