West Ham United had tried to hijack Everton’s move for Andre Gomes this summer.

Andre Gomes tweet after joining Everton is telling for West Ham United.

Gomes’s arrival at Everton was announced yesterday evening, after the Toffees beat off competition from West Ham to land the £22 million midfielder (Sky Sports).

And Gomes’s tweet after signing for Everton insisted that his decision ‘wasn’t a hard one’.

The message suggests that West Ham had very little chance of persuading Gomes to move to the London Stadium.

Gomes spent last season with Everton, where he was a major success, and West Ham were being ambitious by ever targeting the central midfielder.

The Portuguese midfielder is now likely to have a key role to play for Marco Silva’s side next campaign.

West Ham could now be forced to look at other targets, as they look to strengthen their midfield.

West Ham have already brought in Pablo Fornals this summer, in an impressive transfer move.
