Tottenham Hotspur’s summer transfer target – Andre Gomes of Barcelona – is being lined up for a move to Juventus in January, according to talkSPORT.

As talkSPORT reports, the midfielder was linked with a loan switch to North London on deadline day in August but ended up staying with the Spanish giants.

Gomes has continued to be on the periphary of the action at the Camp Nou, making only four starts this season, and is on the hunt for more regular football.

Now talkSPORT understands that his agent Jorge Mendes is in talks with Juventus about securing his client a January loan move, with an option to buy.

Missing out on Gomes should be seen as a blessing in disguise for Spurs as he does not have the creativity or dynamism to add anything to their midfield.

Even at the height of his Valencia career – the season before joining Barca – the 24-year-old managed only two goals and four assists throughout an entire La Liga season.

Tottenham do need a long-term replacement for the injury-prone Mousa Dembele and have been linked with Everton’s Ross Barkley and Schalke’s Leon Goretzka.

The Mirror claims that Spurs are one of a number of English clubs interested in Goretzka, while The Telegraph expects them to return for Barkley after his summer injury.

Both of these players are out of contract at the end of the season and would be cheaper, better options for Spurs as they look to improve the attacking output from the Dembele role.
