Everton boss Marco Silva is reportedly keen to snap up Riqui Puig from Barcelona.

Andre Gomes #21 of FC Barcelona controls the ball in front of Moussa Sissoko #17 of Tottenham Hotspur at Rose Bowl on July 28, 2018 in Pasadena, California.

Andre Gomes’ progression may help to convince Riqui Puig to make a move to Everton.

According to the Sunday Mirror (December 16, page 65) Puig is of interest to the Toffees ahead of the January transfer window.

Everton are having to compete with Tottenham Hotspur for the Barcelona youngster, but the Toffees may well have a trump card to play.

Everton only need to point to Gomes’ progress to prove to Puig that a move to Goodison Park could really benefit his career.

Gomes was barely featuring for Barca, but since switching to Everton he has been a revelation.

Riqui Puig of FC Barcelona looks on during the Joan Gamper Trophy match between FC Barcelona and Boca Juniors at Camp Nou on August 15, 2018 in Barcelona, Spain.

The Portuguese has been one of the Premier League’s leading lights so far this term, and if Puig could have a similar impact at Everton he would be a huge addition.

The move could also work wonders for Puig’s career, if he does excel on Merseyside like his former teammate.

Puig has been hailed as a brilliant prospect at Barca, but he could prove his value if he does thrive at Everton.

And the success of the Gomes transfer may well pave the way for Puig to join too.
